AMD has unveiled the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D, the first mobile processor to feature its groundbreaking 3D V-cache technology, previously seen in the desktop Ryzen 7000X3D series. This cutting-edge CPU promises to redefine gaming performance in laptops.

The Ryzen 9 7945HX3D is AMD’s flagship mobile gaming processor, boasting 16 cores, 32 threads, a boost clock of up to 5.4GHz, and a massive 144MB L3 cache, all while maintaining a base TDP of 55W.

This impressive chip utilizes an enhanced chiplet design with improved interconnectivity. Two Zen 4 core complex dies (CCDs) are linked via a connection boasting 200 times the typical interconnect density, a 15-fold increase in interconnect density per unit area, and three times the energy efficiency.

Designed for power-efficient gaming laptops, the Ryzen 9 7945HX3D can operate at various power levels. The substantial L3 cache significantly benefits performance, especially at lower TDP settings.

3D V-Cache Performance Advantage

AMD’s own testing with Shadow of The Tomb Raider demonstrates the significant impact of 3D V-cache. At a 40W TDP, the 7945HX3D delivers a remarkable 23% performance uplift compared to its non-3D V-cache counterpart. Even at 70W, an 11% improvement is observed. This translates to superior gaming performance at lower power consumption, extending battery life for mobile gamers.

Availability

The Ryzen 9 7945HX3D will debut in the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 X3D gaming laptop, launching on August 22nd.
