Razer has unveiled its latest Razer Blade 15 gaming laptop, featuring the world’s first optical keyboard designed specifically for laptops. This innovative technology utilizes infrared light beams to register keystrokes, offering increased precision and responsiveness. A similar technology has already been successfully implemented in Razer’s Viper gaming mouse.

The optical keyboard boasts a 1.7mm actuation point, though it can register keystrokes at just 1mm with only 55 grams of force. This design provides a distinct “mechanical” feel, promising a comfortable and responsive typing experience for both gaming and everyday use.
Optical Keyboard Exclusivity
Initially, the optical keyboard will be exclusive to the Razer Blade 15 Advanced model. This high-end configuration features an Intel Core i7-9750H processor, a 240Hz FHD display, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Max-Q graphics card, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, priced at $2649. Razer plans to expand the availability of the optical keyboard option to other Blade 15 models in 2020.

Alongside the Advanced model, Razer also announced a Quartz Pink edition of the Blade 15. This vibrant model boasts an Intel Core i7-9750H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card and will be available for $1999.
