Percent Esports Poised for Growth with New Investment
Percent Esports, a relatively unknown team in the Vietnamese League of Legends scene, achieved remarkable success in 2020, securing a spot among the top eight teams in Vietnam. This article explores the team’s journey, from its inception to its recent acquisition by new investors, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
Percent Esports was founded in 2018 by Hoang Phuc Thong with the goal of providing a platform for young, talented League of Legends players in Vietnam to showcase their skills and pursue their dreams of competing on the international stage.
The team’s initial roster was composed of semi-professional players from the “Chia Sẻ Cùng Thách Đấu” (CSCTĐ) community, a group known for its skilled players and dedication to sharing high-level game knowledge.
Percent Esports officially transforms with two new investors
Despite the individual talent, Percent Esports faced initial challenges. Many players, while possessing strong skills, lacked practical competitive experience. Some had never even considered playing professionally.
In May 2020, the team became a focal point in the Vietnamese League of Legends community. They defied expectations, overcoming established VCS veterans to secure a spot among the top eight teams in Vietnam. This achievement, however, brought new challenges. The team struggled with logistics, including housing, living conditions, and access to adequate training equipment. These hurdles proved difficult for the young team to overcome.
News of Percent Esports’ struggles reached potential investors, many of whom expressed interest in supporting the team and enabling them to continue pursuing their passion.
Investor Ryan Tran
After a period of negotiation, Percent Esports officially announced the transfer of full ownership to two new investors: Ryan Tran and Ho Quoc Huy. These investors will now lead the team, aiming to elevate Percent Esports to new heights, including competing in major international tournaments like the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and the World Championship.
In conclusion, the journey of Percent Esports demonstrates the potential of grassroots esports organizations. From humble beginnings, the team has risen to prominence in the Vietnamese League of Legends scene. With new investment and leadership, Percent Esports is well-positioned for continued growth and success, potentially representing Vietnam on the global stage. The future looks bright for this promising young team.
