PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Upgrades to AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Processors

PGL is equipping its tournament PCs with AMD’s Ryzen 7 7800X3D processors for the upcoming CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024. This marks a significant upgrade from the previously used Ryzen 7 5800X3D and Ryzen 9 5950X processors.

“PGL is committed to providing the best possible competitive environment for players. By utilizing AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processors for the gaming PCs, we are certain that the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 will not only be remembered for its fierce competition but also for its flawless technical aspects,” said Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL.

Previously, some players expressed dissatisfaction with the tournament’s use of Ryzen 9 5950X processors, citing performance issues, particularly concerning frame rates. While part of the problem stemmed from Counter-Strike 2‘s inability to fully utilize the processor’s 16 Zen 3 cores, players argued that PGL hadn’t made the best hardware choices. In response, PGL upgraded the tournament PCs to Ryzen 7 5800X3D processors.

Enhanced Performance with Cutting-Edge Technology

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D processors boast eight Zen 4 cores with 3D V-Cache technology, offering up to a 15% performance improvement in games compared to the previous Ryzen 7 5800X3D. This upgrade aims to deliver a smoother and more responsive gaming experience for the competitors.

High-End Graphics and Displays

Complementing the powerful processors, PGL has equipped the tournament with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards and Zowie XL2566K monitors. These monitors support a 1920×1080 resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate, ensuring crisp visuals and minimal input lag, crucial for high-level competitive play.

The Inaugural CS2 Major

The PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024, starting on March 17th and running for two weeks, represents a significant milestone. It’s the first Counter-Strike 2 Major, featuring 24 of the world’s best teams competing for a $1,250,000 prize pool. The tournament is also the first CS2 Major to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark.

This hardware upgrade underscores PGL’s commitment to providing a top-tier competitive environment for players and delivering a high-quality viewing experience for fans. The combination of cutting-edge processors, high-end graphics cards, and high-refresh-rate monitors should ensure optimal performance and a visually stunning showcase of Counter-Strike 2 gameplay.
