PlayStation Portal: Remote Play for PS5 on the Go
Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation Portal, a dedicated remote play handheld designed to stream PS5 games via Wi-Fi. First teased as “Project Q,” the device aims to bring the “PlayStation 5 experience to your hands.”
The PlayStation Portal incorporates key features of the DualSense controller, including haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. It boasts an 8-inch LCD screen capable of 1080p resolution at 60fps.

“PlayStation Portal will connect wirelessly to your PS5 via Wi-Fi, so you can easily switch from playing on your PS5 to PlayStation Portal,” explains Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President, Platform Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment.
While resembling a standalone handheld console, the PlayStation Portal requires a constant connection to a PS5. It cannot play games locally or access applications without being tethered. Furthermore, it’s limited to playing supported games installed on the user’s PS5 console, with no cloud gaming functionality via PS Plus Premium.
Sony recommends a minimum internet connection speed of 5Mbps, with 15Mbps ideal for optimal performance.
For audio, the PlayStation Portal offers a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. It also supports Sony’s newly introduced PlayStation Link wireless technology, designed for lossless audio with low latency.
The PlayStation Portal is slated for release later this year, priced at $199.99 USD.
