The Ryzen 7000 Series marks a significant milestone as the world’s first 5nm x86 processors. The flagship Ryzen 9 7950X delivers up to 57% better performance in V-Ray Render compared to competing products. Even the Ryzen 5 7600X outperforms the Intel Core i9 12900K by an average of 5% in gaming benchmarks.

Thanks to the advanced 5nm process, Zen 4 achieves peak performance while maintaining impressive power efficiency. The Ryzen 9 7950X boasts up to 47% better performance per watt than the Core i9 12900K, while still delivering 62% better overall performance. Compared to the previous generation, Zen 4 offers an average performance uplift of 49% with 62% lower power consumption.

The Ryzen 7000 Series launched on September 27th, with prices starting at $299 for the Ryzen 5 7600X, $399 for the Ryzen 7 7700X, $549 for the Ryzen 9 7900X, and $699 for the top-tier Ryzen 9 7950X.

Introducing the AM5 Socket

The launch of the Ryzen 7000 Series also marks the debut of the AM5 socket for motherboards. These new motherboards feature cutting-edge connectivity technologies, including support for dual-channel DDR5 memory. AM5 motherboards offer up to 24 PCIe Gen 5 lanes, combined with DDR5 support to extend the platform’s lifespan through 2025 and beyond.

Four different AM5 chipsets cater to a range of users, from mainstream to enthusiast:

  • AMD X670 Extreme: Maximum connectivity and overclocking capabilities, with PCIe 5.0 support for both graphics and storage.
  • AMD X670: High-end overclocking support and PCIe 5.0 for graphics and storage.
  • AMD B650E: Designed for performance users, with PCIe 5.0 support for storage and optional graphics support.
  • AMD B650: Targets mainstream users with DDR5 support and optional PCIe 5.0.

AM5 motherboards start at $125. The X670 and X670E chipsets arrived in September, followed by the B650E and B650 in October.
