At CES 2023, AMD announced a new lineup of Ryzen CPUs for desktops and laptops, promising high performance and energy efficiency to maintain its leading position in the market. For desktops, AMD introduced the 7000 Series and 7000X3D Series CPUs, utilizing the new AM5 socket to expand options for users and gamers. Similar to their “X” counterparts, these processors are built on the Zen 4 architecture using TSMC’s 5nm process technology, but with a lower 65W TDP and a more affordable price point.

Due to their lower TDP, these processors are bundled with Wraith Stealth coolers for the Ryzen 5 7600 and Wraith Prism coolers for higher-end models. However, they still offer one-click overclocking capabilities. Initial information from AMD suggests the Ryzen 7 7900 can achieve up to a 39% performance boost when overclocked with liquid cooling.

AMD Ryzen 7000 Series CPUs

AMD also introduced the Ryzen 7000X3D Series, building on the success of the previous generation’s Ryzen 7 5800X3D. These processors feature large L3 caches thanks to 3D V-Cache technology, delivering excellent performance for applications requiring substantial cache memory, particularly games, making them a prime choice for gamers. The Ryzen 7040HS Series processors are built on the advanced 4nm process, utilizing the Zen 4 architecture and integrated RDNA 3 graphics. These processors promise up to 34% faster performance in productivity tasks and up to 21% faster gaming performance compared to competitors. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 7035 and 7030 Series utilize the Zen 3+ and Zen 3 architectures, respectively, focusing on energy efficiency. Additional Technologies

At the event, AMD also announced Ryzen AI, bringing AI processing capabilities to mobile Ryzen CPUs. According to AMD, these new processors offer up to 20% faster AI performance than the M2 processors in MacBooks while consuming up to 50% less power. Finally, AMD PRO technology, featured in the Ryzen PRO 7030 Series, will cater to business users with enhanced features. These CPUs will be available in business laptops starting in February.
