More Than Just a Larger 4000D

Corsair has adopted a “one type fits all” design philosophy in recent years, creating a base chassis that can be adapted into various specialized versions. The 5000 series follows this approach, sharing design elements with the 4000 series but incorporating significant improvements.

The 5000D Tempered Glass boasts a larger footprint compared to standard mid-tower cases, providing abundant space for component installation. This generous interior easily accommodates large components, such as 360mm AIO coolers like the Corsair iCUE H150i RGB PRO XT, with a push-pull configuration without any clearance issues.

Unlike the Airflow variant, the 5000D Tempered Glass features solid metal panels on the front and top instead of perforated panels. These panels are easily removable via a convenient clip mechanism, facilitating quick access to the interior.

Design and Features

The side panel features a vented section with a dust filter, similar to the Airflow version. Behind this vent is a hinged door, providing excellent cable management and a clean aesthetic.

Inside, the 5000D utilizes Corsair’s signature cable management system with dedicated channels and velcro straps. Impressively, the case retains the advanced fan and lighting controller found in the 4000X RGB, offering extensive customization options.

The interior is clean and well-organized, with ample space for cable routing and rubber grommets protecting cables from sharp edges. The rear panel features individually screwed-in PCI-E slot covers, adding to the case’s overall build quality.

Furthermore, the 5000D includes a vertical GPU mounting option, a premium feature often absent in budget mid-tower cases.

Conclusion

The Corsair 5000D Tempered Glass inherits the design language of the 4000 series but offers significant improvements in terms of space and features. While it’s the base model in the 5000 series, it delivers a premium experience with its spacious interior, robust cable management system, and thoughtful design choices. Despite the minor concern regarding the front panel’s tempered glass mounting, the 5000D Tempered Glass presents a compelling option for users seeking a high-quality, feature-rich mid-tower PC case.
