The Corsair K70 MAX keyboard, featuring magnetic MGX switches with “hall effect” technology, offers unparalleled customization options, including adjustable key travel and actuation points. Corsair has now introduced Rapid Trigger, a groundbreaking feature designed to fully exploit the advantages of these magnetic switches.

Traditional mechanical switches activate at a specific point and require a full return to their original position before subsequent activations.

However, Corsair’s magnetic MGX switches eliminate this limitation. According to Corsair, MGX switches track keystroke depth in real-time, enabling adjustable key travel within the software and paving the way for Rapid Trigger.

Essentially, Rapid Trigger provides dynamic key activation for near-instantaneous responsiveness. As the key begins its return, the actuation point resets instantly, allowing any subsequent key press to trigger another activation. This bypasses the reset point limitation of traditional mechanical switches, resulting in significantly faster and more responsive keystrokes.

Activating Rapid Trigger

To enable Rapid Trigger on the K70 MAX, users must update both the iCUE software and the keyboard’s firmware to the latest versions.

After updating, navigate to the keyboard settings within iCUE and select “Key Actuations,” similar to adjusting key travel, to enable Rapid Trigger.

Users can then customize the combination of key travel and Rapid Trigger sensitivity for optimal performance. Sensitivity determines the minimum distance required for subsequent key activations after a release, with support for sensitivity as low as 0.1mm.

Corsair also allows hardware-based Rapid Trigger activation via keyboard shortcuts even when iCUE is closed. Use Fn + Win Lock to toggle the feature and Fn + Menu to adjust sensitivity.
