However, with the international release of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth on PS4 and PS Vita, a new generation has the opportunity to experience the digital world. A Digital Mystery Unfolds

Cyber Sleuth begins with the player, Aiba, chatting online with friends. A mysterious hacker appears, inviting them to explore the popular virtual world, EDEN, promising a unique gift. Despite skepticism, Aiba, along with Nokia Shiramine and Arata Sanada, decide to investigate. Their curiosity leads them to Kowloon, where they are trapped and designated as “Digimon Hunters.” Separated and disoriented, Aiba encounters the leader of the hacker group ZAXTON, who teaches them how to capture Digimon. Reunited, the trio attempts to escape but is attacked by a strange Digimon, damaging Aiba’s logout portal. Aiba awakens in the real world, transformed into a digital being. Rescued by private detective Kyouko Kuremi, Aiba’s true journey begins.

Engaging Gameplay Mechanics

Cyber Sleuth shares similarities with Pokemon, including character customization, collecting diverse creatures, elemental combat, and evolution. However, it distinguishes itself with unique gameplay mechanics. The turn-based combat system allows players to field three Digimon simultaneously, utilizing standard attacks, skills, defense maneuvers, and items. A visible turn order adds strategic depth, allowing players to anticipate enemy actions. The “Cooperation” mechanic, triggered randomly when two or three Digimon fill their combo meter, unleashes a powerful combined attack, particularly useful against bosses.

The Digimon capturing and evolution systems are also innovative. Instead of using items, players scan Digimon during battles. Once a Digimon’s scan rate reaches 100%, players can obtain that Digimon at the Digilab. Evolution is equally compelling. Upon reaching a Digimon’s maximum level, players visit the Digilab and select an evolution path. This system encourages strategic planning, as higher-level evolutions consume more memory. Memory, which determines the number of Digimon a player can carry, is expanded by defeating bosses, finding hidden items, and completing quests.
