Spider-Man 2 Swings onto PS5 with New Trailer, Special Edition Console
The highly anticipated Spider-Man 2 from PlayStation and Insomniac Games has received a thrilling new trailer, revealing a first look at Venom and showcasing a limited edition PS5 console bundle. The trailer dives deeper into the game’s narrative, highlighting the personal struggles of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
Senior Narrative Director Jon Paquette detailed the challenges facing the two Spider-Men. “At the beginning of our story, both Spider-Men are at the peak of their powers,” Paquette explained on the PlayStation Blog. “But both Peter Parker and Miles Morales are struggling with their personal lives. Miles is trying to find time to write his college application essays, but he keeps procrastinating and focusing on being Spider-Man instead.”

Financial burdens weigh heavily on Peter, who’s struggling to pay the mortgage on Aunt May’s house, a place too sentimental to sell. “Just like Miles, Peter is trying (and failing) to find balance with so many responsibilities,” Paquette added. MJ offers to help with the mortgage, but her own job is in jeopardy due to J. Jonah Jameson’s return to the Daily Bugle and subsequent staff shake-up. The narrative sets up a compelling conflict, with both heroes facing uncertain futures and difficult decisions.
The limited edition Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 bundle features a custom console cover design and a matching DualSense wireless controller. For those who already own a PS5, the Spider-Man 2 console covers and DualSense wireless controller will be available for purchase separately.

Jacinda Chew, Senior Art Director at Insomniac, shed light on the design’s inspiration: “The design was inspired by the in-game symbiote that’s taking over the console and controller, but you can still see some of the red under the tendrils.” This visual representation reflects the symbiote’s struggle for dominance, both internally and externally, leaving the ultimate outcome uncertain.
Pre-orders for the console bundle and accessories begin on July 28th. Sony confirmed that these products will also be available in limited quantities at select retailers in various countries worldwide. The new trailer and console reveal have further amplified excitement for Spider-Man 2, promising an engaging narrative and a visually stunning experience for PlayStation 5 players.
